Screened this processor running on ASUS P6X58D premium - LGA 1366 - X58 -- DDR3 - USB 3. 0 SATA 6 Gb/s - ATX Motherboard that is a single CPU motherboard with X58 Chipset. Also running as dual CPU on EVGA labeled Super Record 2 Motherboard 270-WS-W555-A2 in Intel 5520 chipset.
Anyway, it is a retail/box Xeon processor and it not come with CPU cooler. you will need to purchase the CPU cooler individually. On my Asus motherboard, I am pairing it with all the Noctua NH-D14 but for the eVGA you may need something more special because the different backplate. On the eVGA, I am using Noctua NH-U12DX 1366 CPU chillier for LGA 1366 Xeon 5500- only two Pack I can recommend this if you are using 4U or taller, otherwise this can not fit.
I can only say good stuff about this latest Xeon CPU as of that time period of writing and could not really imagine the overclocking potential that offers. Another goodies is you have the new AES encryption support which just might help you on speeding up many industry specific applications which has to do with encryption/decryption. For the price it truly is asking now, this may wonderfully be the best priced Intel Xeon CPU which often offers good balance in performance/watt.
